How is work order price calculated

Q&A • Work orders

How is the price of a work order calculated?

The price of a work order is not entered as a single total. It is built from lines, and the total is their sum. The calculation is below, with an example.

Short answer

  1. The total of the order is the sum of its lines: quantity × unit price, for each line.
  2. Each line is either labour (an operation) or a part, and has its own unit price.
  3. The default prices come from the catalogue of operations and parts, but a line's price can differ from the catalogue.
  4. The default currency of a work order is RON.

An example with figures

An example with made-up figures, for the calculation: oil change, labour 1 × 150 RON; oil filter, 1 × 60 RON; engine oil, 4 × 45 RON. Total: 150 + 60 + 180 = 390 RON. Your figures are the ones in your own catalogue.

What the calculation does not do

  • It does not add VAT and does not issue an invoice: the invoice is made separately, outside the app.
  • It has no discount field on the order.

Common mistakes

  • An out-of-date catalogue: orders start from old prices if you do not check them before giving them to the customer.
