The digital auto estimate: the pre-calculation on the work order
A digital auto estimate is the work order completed before the job starts: operations, parts, quantities and prices. 4mygarage calculates the total from the lines. What you send to the client, through which channel, and whether they approve it is part of your process: the app does not send the estimate and does not collect the approval.
What the estimate contains in the app
- The vehicle: registration number, VIN, make, model, year and mileage.
- The client's complaint, noted on the order.
- Labour and parts lines, with quantity and unit price.
- The total, calculated automatically from the lines.
How to build it
- Open the work order for that vehicle.
- Add the operations from the catalogue, with their default price, or manually.
- Add the parts, with quantity and price.
- Check the total on the lines before you show it to the client.
- Change the status as the job moves on: in progress, ready, delivered.
What the app does not do
- It does not send the estimate to the client by SMS, WhatsApp or email.
- It does not collect the client's approval in the app.
- It does not turn an approved estimate into an invoice.
What you do outside the app
You send the estimate or show it to the client through your own channel, and you note the approval on the order or in your process. If you need electronic approval or invoicing, you need a tool that does them.
