How do I keep track of the parts used on each car?
Parts per car are tracked on the work order: each fitted part is a line, with quantity and price. That shows consumption per car. It does not show how many parts are left in your store; for that you need a separate record.
Short answer
- Put each fitted part as a line on the car's work order, with quantity and price.
- The catalogue can keep typical parts with a default price, so you can pick them quickly.
- The line on the order shows who asked for the part and which car it went into.
- Physical stock (quantities, goods receipts, alerts) is not in 4mygarage; keep it in a sheet or a stock program.
- Compare parts bought with parts fitted on orders each month, to catch differences.
How the per-car record looks
- Open the work order for that vehicle.
- Add the part from the catalogue or manually, with quantity and price.
- Check the total on the lines and save the order.
What 4mygarage does not track
- Stock quantities and goods receipts.
- Minimum-stock or reorder alerts.
- Stock valuation methods, such as FIFO.
