From the vehicle file to the work order
The order opens from the vehicle file with the car, customer and complaint data already filled in. The mechanic diagnoses, then adds the operations carried out and the parts fitted on the order. Each line has a quantity and a price. For operations and parts used often, the price comes from the catalogue, so it does not have to be typed in again each time.
Catalogue of operations and parts, used on every order
The catalogue holds the workshop's operations and parts, each with its default price. When you fill in an order, you pick from the catalogue and the line is completed with the description and price. A tidy catalogue means the same job carries the same price on every order, whoever opened it. The workshop sets the prices; the product does not pull them from outside sources.
Order status and job cost, on the same order
The order's status moves step by step, from the car's arrival to completion, and it is shown on the order itself. The job cost is the sum of the operation and part lines with their quantities, so the total can be checked on the order. There is no separate document to keep in parallel: the lines of the order are the job's cost.
Job history for every vehicle
Closed orders stay linked to the vehicle. At the next visit, the mechanic sees the jobs done, the parts fitted and the mileage at which they were done. The history also helps plan the next interventions, together with the vehicle's service reminders.
